Berkshire International Film Festival and the Austen Riggs Center are proud to present a special community screening and conversation about youth mental illness and suicide prevention. The community event Shine the Light will screen a segment from the documentary Ken Burns presents Hiding in Plain Sight, Youth Mental Illness, a film by Erik Ewers & Christopher Loren Ewers, followed by the screening of a 3-minute PSA produced in the Berkshires, Up on the Roof, which features Carole King. The event will also include a conversation with the film’s director and producer Erik Ewers, subjects from the film MaClayn and Mary Clark, producer Amanda Sherman, founder of Find Your Anchor Ali Borowsky, and mental health treatment experts Jane Tillman, PhD, from the Austen Riggs Center and Brenda Butler, MD, from Berkshire Health Systems. The event is in cooperation with executive producer and sponsor, Kate Morris and the Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention. This event hopes to provide important information, tools of where to turn for help, and inspiration.
