DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nOpening Act: Nine Days\n$45 – $75 (plus processing fees)\nMahaiwe Member & Youth Discount Event  \n$45 Limited Upper Balcony\n$55 Reserved\n$65 Preferred\n$75 Premium  \nMembers receive $5 off each ticket\n$15 ages 30 and under (visit the Box Office or call 413-528-0100\, Wed – Sat\, 12-4pm)  \nSongs\, albums\, live performances — some are simply timeless. From their early roots\, circa 1988\, playing house parties at Louisiana State University\, Better Than Ezra have made their mark on the music world in a major way. Yes\, the New Orleans quartet\, founded by Kevin Griffin (lead vocals\, guitar\, piano) and Tom Drummond (bass\, backing vocals)\, who unleash hummable melodies\, unshakable guitar riffs\, and confessional lyrics\, have stood the test of time — from 1995's number one hit "Good" all the way to Taylor Swift's famous 2010 cover of the Better Than Ezra classic "Breathless." And they're still going strong: in May 2024\, the band released their long-anticipated tenth studio album Super Magick via Round Hill Records. Named one of the "100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time" by Billboard\, with a legacy that includes inspiring a classic Saturday Night Live skit\, Better Than Ezra spent 2024 on the road touring their headline Live a Little Tour in the spring and continuing through the year\, recently wrapping their Legends of the Fall: Tokyo Drift Tour.  \n\n– \n\n–\nSponsored by

SUMMARY:Met Opera Live in HD: Wagner's Tristan und Isolde
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS$25 / $10 ages 21 and under.\nConnectorCare/WIC/EBT Card to Culture*  \nAfter years of anticipation\, a truly unmissable event arrives as the electrifying Lise Davidsen tackles one of the ultimate roles for dramatic soprano: the Irish princess Isolde in Wagner's transcendent meditation on love and death. Heroic tenor Michael Spyres stars opposite Davidsen as the love-drunk Tristan. The momentous occasion also marks the advent of a new\, Met-debut staging by Yuval Sharon—hailed by The New York Times as "the most visionary opera director of his generation" and the first American to direct an opera at the famed Wagner festival in Bayreuth—as well as Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin's first time leading Tristan und Isolde at the Met. Mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her signature portrayal of Brangäne\, alongside bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny\, who sings Kurwenal after celebrated Met appearances in Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer and Ring cycle. Bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green makes an important role debut as King Marke.   \n*We accept ConnectorCare/WIC/EBT cards! Four free tickets to movies or HD broadcasts per individual. SUMMARY:Amanda Pascali
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS– \n$35\, General Admission \nCafé table seating  \nAmanda Pascali embodies the complexity of modern identity. Born to a mother from Cairo who grew up in France and an Italian father raised in Romania\, she's a mixed-race\, bilingual Gen Z troubadour perpetually caught between worlds. Quoting poet Ijeoma Umebinyuo\, she says\, "I'm often 'too foreign for here\, too foreign for home\, and never enough for both.'" Rather than lamenting this displacement\, Pascali has transformed it into her artistic superpower.  \nAs the rising voice of America's most ethnically diverse generation of young people\, singer-songwriter Amanda Pascali writes music that speaks to the experience of growing up as a first-generation American. After her songs went viral on social media\, she amassed hundreds of thousands of fans around the globe. Now\, her long-awaited new record\, Roses and Basil (a collection of Sicilian-English translations and original music produced by Robert Ellis\,) has been praised by NPR\, the Bluegrass Situation\, and numerous international outlets.  \n\nSponsored by

SUMMARY:Close Encounters With Music: Mostly Amadeus—Meet the Mozarts!
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n  \n$35 Balcony / $60 Orchestra\nMahaiwe Member Discount Event\n \nMahaiwe Member Sale: \nFriday\, September 5 at noon  \nPublic Sale: \nWednesday\, September 10 at noon \nMahaiwe Members receive $5 off each ticket \nThe supernatural perfection of Mozart’s music was produced by a man many considered a “quill in divine hands.” Two sublime works—his Piano Trio in B-flat\, KV 502 and Quartet in G minor\, KV 478—may convince you of the same. To remind us of the humanity behind the legend\, the program sets Amadeus between his father Leopold—who wrote piano exercises for Amadeus and his sister Nannerl\, and shrewdly marketed his “child wonder”—and his son Franz Xaver\, who\, without the shadow of his father’s genius\, would have been remembered as a fine composer in his own right. A special attraction will be the world premiere of a newly discovered Mozart fragment\, found under unusual circumstances!  \nAnna Polonsky\, piano; Hye-Jin Kim\, violin; Ara Gregorian\, viola; Yehuda Hanani\, cello

SUMMARY:Du Bois Freedom Center presents: Reflections on Justice – W.E.B. Du Bois\, the Scottsboro Boys\, and Legacies of Injustice
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE\n\nFREE\, Reservations required  \nExhibition at 5pm; Moderated conversation at 6pm \nThe Du Bois Freedom Center is partnering with the Scottsboro Boys Museum in Scottsboro\, Alabama\, to host the museum’s traveling exhibit at its 309 Main Street office from February 10 through late April. As part of the opening week\, the Center will present Reflections on Justice: W.E.B. Du Bois\, the Scottsboro Boys\, and Legacies of Injustice at the Mahaiwe theater’s Indigo Room—a featured public conversation examining W.E.B. Du Bois’s and the NAACP’s involvement in the Scottsboro case\, the legal strategies developed within the Black Freedom Struggle\, and the continuing relevance of those strategies today. The Scottsboro Boys Museum traveling exhibit will also be available for public viewing at the venue before and after the program.  \nThe program will feature Dr. Thomas Reidy\, Executive Director of the Scottsboro Boys Museum\, in conversation with Dr. Whitney Battle-Baptiste\, Director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Center at UMass Amherst\, moderated by Marcus P. Smith\, History and Archival Fellow at the Du Bois Freedom Center. Sponsored by the Du Bois Freedom Center in conjunction with the Scottsboro Boys Exhibit\, the program centers on one of the most notorious legal injustices in U.S. history—the 1931 false accusation of nine Black teenagers known as the Scottsboro Boys—and reflects on the legacy of the late Sheila Washington\, founder of the Scottsboro Boys Museum. The discussion will examine Washington’s pivotal role in securing the men’s posthumous exoneration through the 2013 Scottsboro Boys Act\, as well as the museum’s ongoing work addressing public memory\, accountability\, and justice.

SUMMARY:Met Opera Live in HD: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\n  \n$25 / $10 ages 21 and under\nConnectorCare/WIC/EBT Card to Culture*   \nDue to popular demand\, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay\, recorded live earlier this season\, will be presented as a special screening. In this exhilarating new adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize–winning novel\, two Jewish cousins invent an anti-fascist superhero and launch their own comic-book series\, hoping to recruit America into the fight against Nazism. Incorporating scintillating electronic elements and a variety of musical styles\, composer Mason Bates’s eclectic score moves seamlessly among the three worlds of Gene Scheer’s libretto: Nazi-occupied Prague\, the bustling streets of New York City\, and the technicolor realm of comic-book fantasy. Bartlett Sher’s production provides spectacular visuals to match\, with towering sets and proscenium-filling projections designed by 59 Studio. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met premiere-production\, with baritone Andrzej Filończyk as the artist Joe Kavalier\, who flees Czechoslovakia and arrives at the Brooklyn doorstep of writer Sam Clay\, sung by tenor Miles Mykkanen.  \nWarning: Adult content and language \n*We accept ConnectorCare/WIC/EBT cards! Four free tickets to movies or HD broadcasts per individual. Thank you to the donors who make this possible.

SUMMARY:Revolution 250 Presents: 250th Anniversary Commemoration of Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE\n  \nFREE\, Reservations required  \nJoin the towns of the Berkshires as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of one of the most extraordinary feats of the American Revolution: Colonel Henry Knox’s daring winter journey to bring the captured cannon of Fort Ticonderoga to the Continental Army in Boston. In January 1776\, Knox’s massive caravan of oxen\, sleds\, and artillery wound its way through the Berkshires—passing directly through Great Barrington—on its way to reshape the balance of the siege and\, ultimately\, the fate of the Revolution.  \nThis special anniversary event will highlight the Berkshire’s role in the epic “Noble Train of Artillery\,” celebrating the ingenuity\, determination\, and community spirit that made Knox’s mission possible. Featuring historical presentations\, living history demonstrations\, family-friendly activities\, and period music\, the commemoration will bring to life the challenges of transporting more than 60 tons of artillery across frozen rivers\, steep hills\, and snow-covered roads.  \nResidents\, visitors\, and history enthusiasts are invited to gather in honor of the men\, animals\, and townspeople whose perseverance helped secure the Continental Army’s first great strategic victory. As we mark this milestone in America’s founding story\, towns throughout the Berkshires proudly remember its place along the path that helped lead to independence.  \nThe commemorative program at the Mahaiwe theater will include remarks from Massachusetts Daughters of the American Revolution State Regent Mary Tedesco\, Revolution 250 Committee Chair Professor Robert J. Allison\, representatives from the Office of the Governor of Massachusetts\, State Sen. Paul Mark (D – Berkshire\, Hampden\, Franklin\, and Hampshire District)\, and State Rep. Leigh Davis (D – 3rd Berkshire District). \nA central feature of the program will be the presentation of commemorative plaques to representatives of the Berkshire communities that aided Knox and his men along the route: Alford\, North Egremont\, Great Barrington\, Monterey\, Sandisfield\, Otis\, Russell\, and Blandford. These presentations honor not only the historic role these towns played in supporting the Noble Train\, but also the collective sacrifice and cooperation that sustained the cause of American independence. \nFor more information on Berkshires 250 programming visit https://berkshires.org/berkshires250/
