Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons (with his accompanying sonnets) and Piazzolla’s sultry Four Seasons of Buenos Airesmeet in a program where time, place, and style intertwine. From the bright renewal of Spring to the icy slips of Winter, Vivaldi paints nature in Baroque brilliance. One of the earliest examples of “program music,” his work evokes creeks, birds, storms, drunken dancers, and warm fires. Piazzolla’s southern-hemisphere vision pulses with tango rhythms and urban melancholy, reframing the seasons through the lens of Buenos Aires. Together, they create a striking dialogue across centuries and continents—earthy, electric, timeless, and dazzlingly performed by the Vivace Baroque Orchestra, a group of fourteen top-tier New York musicians who gather for periodic tours.
