Better Than Ezra

Some songs, albums, and live performances are simply timeless. Since their early roots in 1988, playing house parties at Louisiana State University, Better Than Ezra have carved out a lasting place in modern rock. The New Orleans quartet, founded by Kevin Griffin (lead vocals, guitar, piano) and Tom Drummond (bass, backing vocals), became known for their instantly hummable melodies, unshakable guitar riffs, and confessional lyrics that continue to resonate across generations.

From their 1995 number one hit “Good” to Taylor Swift’s 2010 cover of the Better Than Ezra classic “Breathless,” the band’s influence has remained undeniable. In 2025, Better Than Ezra celebrated 30 years of their breakthrough debut album Deluxe with a sold-out hometown show at the Fillmore New Orleans, a full-circle moment honoring the record that helped define alternative rock in the ’90s, including songs like “Good,” “In the Blood,” and “Rosealia.”

Named one of Billboard’s “100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time,” and with a legacy that even includes inspiring a classic Saturday Night Live sketch, Better Than Ezra spent 2024 releasing their tenth studio album, Super Magick, and headlining both the Live A Little Tour and Legends of the Fall: Tokyo Drift Tour, proving once again that their music and live shows remain as vital as ever.
