FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Great Barrington, Mass.—The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center has added four Indigo Room programs to its year-round schedule: singer-songwriter Ari Hest on August 14, jazz singer Nicole Zuraitis with a quartet on October 3, genre-blending artist Raul Midón on October 10, and jazz singer Kate Kortum with a quartet on October 24.
Ari Hest
Ari Hest will perform at the Indigo Room on Friday, August 14 at 8 p.m.
Ari Hest has crafted a unique path in music – independently building a loyal following through relentless college touring, then on to major label albums, and then reimagining listener engagement through fan-driven projects like “52” and his Patreon-powered “The Treehouse Project.”
A Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter (best folk album, 2017) who began his career two decades ago, he’s performed both in the U.S. and abroad with artists like The Indigo Girls, Martin Sexton, Judy Collins and Suzanne Vega.
Many of Ari’s songs have appeared on TV and film – The Path, The Lincoln Lawyer, Private Practice, Army Wives, and One Tree Hill to name a few.
Ari’s newest endeavor, “The Treehouse Project,” has him writing, recording and releasing a song on his Patreon every two weeks since early 2022. Based on the votes of his subscribers, he remixes the 10 favorite songs from each year and releases an album. The project is currently in its fourth year and is approaching 100 original songs.
Tickets are $35 general admission, café table seating.
Nicole Zuraitis Quartet
The Nicole Zuraitis Quartet will perform at the Indigo Room on Saturday, October 3 at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Nicole Zuraitis is a two-time Grammy-winning and six-time Grammy-nominated jazz singer-songwriter, producer, pianist, arranger, New York-based bandleader and winner of the prestigious American Traditions Vocal Competition Gold Medal. With a “heart as big as her remarkable voice,” (Jazz Police), Nicole has positioned herself as one of the top artists and “prolific songwriters” (Broadway World) to watch in jazz and beyond, or as she likes to call it, The Modern Songbook.
As a recording artist, Nicole has released seven albums as leader, and her sixth album, How Love Begins, co-produced with eight-time Grammy winner Christian McBride, won Best Jazz Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards and features all original music. She is the only person ever to have won this award who wrote and arranged the entire album herself. Her live album Live at Vic’s Las Vegas, which she produced, wrote and arranged, featuring Tom Scott, Keyon Harrold, Rachel Eckroth, Idan Morim, Sam Weber and Dan Pugach, was nominated for two Grammys in 2026. Nicole’s latest studio album, The Devil I Knew, produced by Larry Klein, is out July 2026.
Tickets are $65 general admission, café table seating.
Raul Midón
Raul Midón will perform at the Indigo Room on Saturday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón has built a genre-defying career that blends soul, jazz, Latin rhythms, and acoustic virtuosity into a sound entirely his own. Blind since birth, Midón has often been described as a “one-man band”—turning his guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus (The New York Times). His artistry has earned praise from icons such as Quincy Jones (“his music makes you smile”), Elton John (who called State of Mind a “soul classic”), and Bill Withers, who championed his music.
Midón first captivated audiences worldwide with his breakthrough album State of Mind, produced by the legendary Arif Mardin. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, the album remains a touchstone of modern soul and jazz. Over the years, he has collaborated with a remarkable range of artists, from Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, and Marcus Miller to Snoop Dogg and Roberta Flack. He has performed with orchestras, at jazz festivals across the globe, and even appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show to debut new work.
A true eclectic adventurist (People), Midón continues to push boundaries. His latest album, Lost & Found (2024), released on his own ReKondite ReKords label, showcases his evolution as a storyteller and composer while reaffirming the joyful, borderless spirit that defines his music. Whether onstage with only his guitar or accompanied by full orchestra, Raul Midón embodies what The Guardian once called a “totally musical mind at work.”
Tickets are $49 general admission, café table seating.
Kate Kortum Quartet
The Kate Kortum Quartet will perform at the Indigo Room on Saturday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Seamlessly blending bebop and Broadway, Kate Kortum has turned the heads of millions as one of the most compelling new artists in jazz today.
A Juilliard graduate and winner of the 2025 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, Kortum has become a familiar face on the most iconic stages in jazz including Birdland, Blue Note, Mezzrow, Dizzy’s Club, SXSW Festival, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Kortum has toured internationally and collaborated with modern jazz leaders including Bryan Carter, Peter Bernstein, Wynton Marsalis and the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
Her debut album, Good Woman, reimagines jazz standards originally written by men, reclaiming them through bold arrangements and a distinctly female perspective. The record and her follow-up LP Wild Woman have been met with acclaim leading to over 5.1 million streams.
Alongside her solo career, Kate Kortum is a member of The Sunhouse Singers, a New York-based vocal trio with vocalists June Cavlan and Joie Bianco. Together, the trio have been featured in projects from Bryan Carter, Charlie Rosen, Christian Wiggs, and Emmet Cohen – appearing on the award-winning program “Live from Emmet’s Place.”
Tickets are $65 general admission, café table seating.
