Great Barrington, Mass.—The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center has added an array of spring programming to its year-round schedule, including Parsons Dance on its mainstage on April 4, plus musicians Jane Monheit and Amanda Pascali at the Indigo Room on April 17 and March 21 respectively.  

Parsons Dance 

Parsons Dance company will return to the Mahaiwe’s mainstage for two performances on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The company last performed at the Mahaiwe in 2022. 

Known for its energized, athletic, and joyous style, Parsons Dance is internationally renowned for creating and performing contemporary American dance. Their bold ensemble work and movement has solidified them as one of the world’s leading dance companies. Works, like the iconic Caught, exemplify this company’s innovation and huge audience appeal. Parsons Dance is always a favorite that is sure to thrill audiences with their effortless movement and stunning dancers. As The New York Times describes, “This is a ‘dance your heart out’ (at all times, no excuses) kind of enterprise.” 

Tickets are $40 to $70, with discounts for Mahaiwe Members and individuals ages 30 and under. 

Jane Monheit 

Jazz vocalist Jane Monheit will perform at the Mahaiwe’s Indigo Room on Friday, April 17 at 8 p.m. Monheit has appeared before on the Mahaiwe’s mainstage with John Pizzarelli in 2014.  

With a voice that exudes warmth and sophistication, dazzling jazz vocalist Jane Monheit is renowned for her innovative interpretations of Great American Songbook standards, from ballads to blues. Catapulted to stardom at age 20 for her immense musical talent, Jane has spent the last two decades touring the globe, collaborating with jazz luminaries and legends, and appearing in guest performances on Late Night with David Letterman and Conan O’Brien, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show and more. With 12 albums under her belt, Jane continues to tour the world nearly nonstop, including playing iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, and headlining at nearly every legendary jazz club on the planet, most notably New York stalwarts such as the Village Vanguard and Birdland.

Amanda Pascali 

Singer-songwriter Amanda Pascali will perform at the Indigo Room on Saturday, March 21 at 8 p.m.  

As the rising voice of America’s most ethnically diverse generation of young people, singer-songwriter Amanda Pascali writes music that speaks to the experience of growing up as a first-generation American. After her songs went viral on social media, she amassed hundreds of thousands of fans around the globe. Now, her long-awaited new record, Roses and Basil (a collection of Sicilian-English translations and original music produced by Robert Ellis), has been praised by NPR, the Bluegrass Situation, and numerous international outlets. Her music, described as “immigrant American folk,” delivers a powerful narrative on being “too foreign for here, too foreign for home, and never enough for both,” as Pascali puts it.

Screenings 

The Mahaiwe has also added a variety of screenings to its existing schedule – romantic musical drama Moulin Rouge! (2001) on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14 at 7 p.m.; Japanese animated favorite Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) on Friday, February 20 at 7 p.m.; and The Fifth Step from London’s National Theatre in HD on Saturday, February 28 at 7 p.m.

Tickets to Parsons Dance go on sale to Mahaiwe Members on Wednesday, January 14 at noon, and to the public on Friday, January 16 at noon. 

Tickets to Jane Monheit and Amanda Pascali go on sale on Saturday, January 10 at noon.

About the Indigo Room  

The Indigo Room is a flexible performance venue in the former Great Barrington firehouse building at 20 Castle Street, next door to the historic Mahaiwe theater. Audience capacity ranges between 75 and 150 based on the floor plan for a given performance. Concessions include beer, wine, soft drinks, hot beverages and snacks.
