Great Barrington, Mass.—The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center has added twoee shows to its year-round schedule this October: a cappella group VOCES8 on October 9, and singer-songwriter A.J. Croce on October 23.
VOCES8
Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8 will perform on the Mahaiwe mainstage on Friday, October 9 at 8 p.m. VOCES8 is the world’s top-streaming classical vocal group and proud to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing. Touring globally, the group performs an extensive repertory both in its a cappella concerts and in collaborations with leading musicians, orchestras and conductors. Versatility and a celebration of diverse musical expression are central to the ensemble’s performance and education ethos which is shared both online and in person. VOCES8 is the flagship ensemble of the VOCES8 Foundation which actively promotes a Music Education for All initiative, reaching up to 40,000 people annually.
VOCES8 has performed at many notable venues from Wigmore Hall to Sydney Opera House. This season they perform over 100 concerts globally. Online, the VOCES8 Digital Academy and the LIVE From London digital festival continue. They publish music and educational material with VOCES8 Publishing, E.C. Schirmer and Edition Peters, including The VOCES8 Method written by Paul Smith. Taylor Scott Davis is Composer-in-Residence with Jim Clements as Arranger-in-Residence. Their new album is TWENTY, joining previous releases Nightfall, A Choral Christmas, Christopher Tin’s The Lost Birds (a Grammy Award nominee), Home conducted by Eric Whitacre (featuring “The Sacred Veil”), and Seven Psalms with Paul Simon.
VOCES8’s Mahaiwe performance will feature the group’s Let’s Fly Away program, a celebration of the extraordinary breadth and versatility of the human voice. Spanning over five centuries of music, the program moves freely between sacred polyphony, romantic choral writing, contemporary song, jazz standards, folk melodies and pop classics.

A.J. Croce – Croce Plays Croce
Acclaimed singer songwriter, piano virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist A.J. Croce will perform on the Mahaiwe’s mainstage on Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. Croce is once again taking his celebrated Croce Plays Croce tour across the country, bringing audiences an unforgettable evening of music that bridges generations and celebrates the enduring power of song.
From his earliest performances as a teenager, to his critically acclaimed albums and world tours, A.J. Croce has forged a remarkable career entirely on his own terms. Over the course of three and a half decades and eleven studio albums, he has become known as an acclaimed songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and electrifying performer, with more than twenty songs reaching Billboard’s Top 40 charts across multiple genres. Celebrated for his ability to bridge styles and eras with effortless grace, Croce moves fluidly through American roots, rock n’ roll, blues, jazz, soul, and world music, creating a sound that is as distinctive as it is timeless.
Throughout his remarkable career, A.J. has shared the stage with an extraordinary list of musical icons — including Ray Charles, B.B. King, James Brown, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Rod Stewart — each collaboration adding another layer to his deep and diverse musical story.
Son of the legendary singer songwriter, Jim Croce, A.J. purposefully waited thirty years to perform his father’s music, only introducing his acclaimed Croce Plays Croce tour when he felt there was a meaningful way to honor his musical legacy with depth, intention, and musical integrity. Croce Plays Croce showcases that legacy in a way that few concerts can. The show features a moving and energetic blend of Jim Croce’s legendary songs — such as “Operator”, “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim,” “Bad Bad Leroy Brown” and “Time in a Bottle” — alongside A.J.’s own acclaimed originals. Through stories, humor, and remarkable musicianship, A.J. connects audiences to both his father’s iconic body of work and his own evolution as one of today’s most respected artists.

Tickets go on sale to Mahaiwe Members on Wednesday, May 13 at noon (10 a.m. online for A.J. Croce) and to the public on Friday, May 15 at noon.

About the Indigo Room
The Indigo Room is a flexible performance venue in the former Great Barrington firehouse building at 20 Castle Street, next door to the historic Mahaiwe theater. Audience capacity ranges between 75 and 150 based on the floor plan for a given performance.
