In honor of the first annual W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Day, CATA (Community Access to the Arts) artists are celebrating the visionary leader through art: https://cataarts.org/2021/02/22/dubois-portraits-2021/

The Town of Great Barrington and the Mahaiwe co-present W.E.B. Du Bois’s 153rd Birthday Celebration: “Timeless Messages of Prophecy & Protest.” Join singers Wanda Houston and Mary Nell Morgan in their powerful, original rendering and exploration of the sorrow songs from Du Bois’s essential 1903 text The Souls of Black Folk. Celebrate with the town as it proclaims Du Bois Day an official holiday and bestows its annual Legacy Award to musician-activist Reggie Harris and Clinton Church Restoration Founder Wray Gunn.

Enjoy reflections from students and staff at the newly renamed W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School! Receive a greeting from Du Bois’s own great- and great-great-grandchildren. And be ready to open your mind to the legacy of Du Bois as his scholarship and activism resonate with movements for Black lives and racial justice in America today.
